Curriculum Content
The following sequence is recommended for adapting the TLC training curriculum. Unit 1, consisting of only one session, is facilitator lead introducing participants to key concepts of TLC, group roles, the training workshop overview and summative assessment requirements. This session will also be crucial to establishing group dynamics and sense of community among teachers. To follow Units 2-5, consisting of two sessions each, will cover content and concepts related to the following topics, student psychosocial needs, classroom management, conflict resolution, and peace education. Session 1 of Units 2-5 are facilitator lead, introducing key concepts in addition to allowing participants to engage in activities applying key concepts to real world scenarios. Session 2 of Unit 2 will be facilitator lead in order to demonstrate TLC protocol and procedures. Session 2 of Unit 3-5 will be participant lead, as participants’ practice planning and leading their own TLCs. Depending on group size and to ensure that all participants are able to plan and lead a TLC, partnering or splitting the group into 2+ TLCs is recommended for these sessions. The final Unit 6 consisting of only one session is facilitator lead, drawing on next steps for the sustainability of TLCs in addition to concluding the summative assessment evaluation.
